Esteban Valderrama

Engineer-In-Training

Hello! My name is Esteban Valderrama, and I am currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. I work at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). I graduated from EAFIT University in December 2012 with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in mechanical design. I have very cross-disciplinary interests, spanning the range of structural engineering, aerospace structures, geotechnical engineering, mechanical design, and software design.

I consider myself an organized, proactive and always willing to learn person. I can easily adapt to a team working environment. I'm driven by core values such as respect, honesty and tolerance. I truly believe that a positive attitude and discipline can guide me to success in all the projects/activities/challenges that I'm committed to.

  • 08/2011 - 07/2013

    Mechanical Engineering Intern

University of Texas at San Antonio

Developed computational tools to study damage tolerance in aerospace structures; CVGROW is a Fortran code used to compute the crack growth and cycles to failure. Created graphical user interface for software to calculate the linear fatigue damage and damage tolerance of small airplanes.

  • 08/2013 - 08/2014

    Research Assistant

University of Texas at San Antonio

Designed algorithms to study biophysical phenomena. Trained students in the usage of the computational tools.

  • 12/2014 - 08/2015

    Software Engineer Associate

    Accenture LLP, Irving, TX

Designed and developed testing procedures to comply with user requirements.

  • Present

    Part-Time Research Assistant

University of Texas at San Antonio

Designed and developed computer software to study biophysical phenomena, the Classical Solvation Density Functional Theory Solver (CSDFTS) is an open-source and it is mainly used for research and teaching purposes.
